What's in a name?

Gulliver stems from the protagonist 'Gully Foyle' from Alfred Bester's The Stars My Destination. Xerxes is in honour of the Persian king 486 to 465 BC. Conroy is Morgan's maternal grandfather's surname.

Tummy slider

Oooh, what's this?

A slide, a frickin' slide!

Ha ha ha!!!
...
[Mum steps in to hold tummy sliding action man as he dives off the edge]
...

Holy crap!

I just did what now?

Oh, she's big, she's big alright!

Hey guys, you see that?

I mean, I was frightened, sure

But, fear drives action and from action comes success.

Geez, adrenalin crash. Let's hit the road.

Sunday yum cha

I didn't get a picture of us all pigging out at yum cha, because we were all too involved in eating to be taking photos! But, the young gentleman happily posed as he enjoyed a post-meal chopstick chew. The two bottom teeth have recently emerged, but we've also got four top teeth bulging to get out!

Gully's solo adventure

Today I caught up with two friends and their bubs at New Farm Park, by the Brisbane River. At one stage Gully started crawling away from us, happily exploring. I was pretty relaxed about this and let him do his own thing. What an intrepid, introspective and relaxed fellow he is?

I ended up following him down to the path. He made it halfway across the concrete before finding the texture a bit rough and appreciating a lift. Then I took him down to the silty-sand edge of the mangroves, where he pushed it about with his hands and played with the rocks.

Magical day. Possibly my favourite moment of being a parent so far.

Teething

Gully is finally teething. The two bottom teeth have come through and we suspect the top front two won't be far off.

Wooden puzzle

I found a strange little wooden puzzle at the Salvos. Morgan was able to release the little spikey thing inside with only a few minutes of playing. I have not been so clever! Gully thinks it's just wonderful.

Gymboree mountain climbing

Physical fitness is a virtue in my family. Today Gully pulled himself to standing for the first time and clambered up a number of surfaces. I think grandpa Devitt will be pleased to see his grandson working out. :)

Swimming in Spring

First day of spring today! So, Gully and I headed to the Newmarket pool for a dip.

I have no pics in the pool itself as I was by myself. But, Gully had a wonderful time in the water on a 'lillypad', chasing a big ball and exploring plastic lane markers. The sunny day and grass to explore didn't hinder the goodness either. :)

After the pool, I popped Gully in the Ergo with bathers and sarong and we went off train-hunting behind the pool complex.

Train hunting is like train spotting, but involves hiking parallel to the line rather than sitting.

On the way we found Jasmine

We saw two trains roar past just as we got back to the car. Yay!
