Last week Gully and I saw a really cool electricity truck with metal rods welded onto the flat bed filled with nuts, square washers and coils. We spent some time picking them up and dropping them again.
Over the weekend we went to Bunnings and Morgs helped me conceptualize a toy based on the truck. He suggested the wood pieces and we all found some great nuts and washers. The whole lot cost us $11. At home, Morgs sawed the wooden dowel and plank and used wood glue to set the pieces.
So far, so good! The pieces make an entirely satisfying chink sound when they land. Metal is a lot more fun than plastic and wood sometimes. Plus, the heaviness adds interesting play dimensions.
Playing inside the cardboard box just adds to the fun! :)
